The Role’s Mission
As an Industrial Electrician ISI Testing Lead, your mission is to ensure that every product tested in our lab fully complies with applicable Indian Standards (IS) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) requirements. You are the execution backbone of our certification process—conducting precise tests, maintaining disciplined records, and supporting audits. Accurate testing and documentation from your end ensure uninterrupted ISI licenses, faster approvals, and sustained regulatory trust.
The Role
This role is based in a BIS-recognized / ISI certification testing environment and requires hands-on execution of electrical safety and performance tests, strict adherence to test methods defined in IS standards, and complete documentation readiness for BIS inspections and surveillance audits.
Key OutcomesÂ
- Standards Compliance: Execute testing strictly as per applicable IS standards without deviations.
- Audit Readiness: Maintain test records, sample traceability, and lab discipline to ensure zero non-conformities during BIS audits.
- Certification Support: Support new product approvals, license renewals, and surveillance testing under BIS guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- BIS / ISI Testing Execution: Conduct routine, type, and surveillance tests as per relevant IS standards for electrical products.
- Test Procedure Adherence: Follow BIS-approved test methods, parameters, and acceptance criteria without deviation.
- Lab Equipment Handling: Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical testing instruments, meters, gauges, and test setups.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Prepare accurate test reports, observation sheets, calibration records, and BIS-related documentation using computers (Excel / Word / ERP / Lab software).
- Sample Control & Traceability: Ensure proper identification, labelling, storage, and traceability of test samples as required by BIS.
- Audit & Inspection Support: Assist during BIS inspections, factory audits, surveillance visits, and third-party inspections.
- Non-Conformance Reporting: Report deviations, failures, or abnormal observations immediately to Quality / Compliance teams.
- Housekeeping & Lab Discipline: Maintain lab cleanliness, safety practices, and compliance with BIS lab infrastructure requirements.
What You Bring
- Standards-Driven Mindset: You understand that ISI certification depends on strict adherence to standards and procedures.
- Electrical Fundamentals: Working knowledge of electrical parameters such as voltage, current, insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance, and basic safety tests.
- Documentation Discipline: Comfortable preparing, updating, and maintaining structured test reports and compliance records.
- Computer Proficiency: Ability to use MS Excel, MS Word, and basic lab or ERP systems for data entry and reporting.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy, repeatability, and consistency in testing and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: ITI (Electrical / Electronics) or higher qualification (Diploma in Electrical / Electronic preferred).
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a BIS / ISI testing lab, quality lab, or electrical manufacturing unit. (Freshers with strong electrical basics and lab exposure may be considered.)
- Technical Skills: Understanding of IS / BIS standards for electrical products. Hands-on experience with electrical testing instruments. Proficiency in Excel and Word for report preparation
- Communication: Ability to understand IS standards, follow written test procedures, and clearly document results.
- Work Ethic: Responsible, disciplined, and capable of working independently in a compliance-driven environment.
